Improving your ball handling skills and being able to handle the ball with both hands without looking or concentrating on it will improve all aspects of your game. Better ball handling isn’t easy. It comes through dedicating time and repetitions at things that may be difficult. Patient, dedicated off-season work will pay off with improvement and wins next season.
We are challenging CGAA players who are dedicated to improving to invest a minimum 1,500 minutes into ball handling drills during the off-season. That averages less than 10 minutes a day! You do not need a basketball hoop to participate.
All players who reach the Ball Handling Bonanza goal will earn a t-shirt, a Ball Handling Bonanza ball, and be invited to a pizza party. Players will also be asked to give a ball handling demonstration at a varsity game half time.
Here's How to Start:
Send your commitment numbers along with your, age grade, and coach’s name to jeremy.lacroix@comcast.net. We will use this number as your "goal". Email your minutes spent practicing monthly. These totals will be put on the CGAA website. Parents will sign off on the tracking sheet at the end of the program and mail or email final minutes. This is a self reporting program based on the honor system.
· Spend about a minute on each drill and then do a new one.
· Change up which drills you practice each day and remember to do all the drills with both hands.
· Basements and Garages work on rainy days!
· Bring game level focus and energy while doing the drills and as always…have a BALL!!
