Boys' Traveling
Pre-Tryout Workout
Coach Weah will be hosting a Pre-Tryout Workout for Boys who are registered for Traveling Basketball this season. These workouts will take place at Park High School on Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10. The schedule is as follows:
Boys Grades- 3rd-5th- Saturday, September 9- Noon-2pm in the Main Gym.
Boys Grades- 6th-8th- Sunday, September 10- Noon-2pm in the Main Gym.
Bring a basketball and a water bottle.

If a player is unable to attend both days of tryouts they will be evaluated based on the day or partial day(s) that they are there. We will use other additional factors such as past tryout performance, coach feedback, etc. to determine their team placement.
Missing tryouts may impact your child's team placement. We will do our best to place players on the appropriate team, but in situations where we have multiple teams as the same age level the players that attend tryouts may receive preferential treatment.
In registration, if you chose "Rec Basketball Only" for your son, he should attend the Sunday evaluations time only.

2023-24 Boys Traveling Basketball Information
- Tryouts- Cottage Grove Middle School- Saturday, September 16 & Sunday, September 17
- District 833 Border Battle Jamboree- Saturday, October 28 or Sunday, October 29
- Official Start of Practice- Week of November 1
- Teams will practice 2 nights per week
- Tournaments (November-March):
- 3rd Grade- 8 Tournaments (State Tournament March 2-3)
- 4th-6th Grade- 10 Tournaments (State Tournament March 2-3_
- 7th & 8th Grade- 10 Tournaments (State Tournament March 9-10)
- CGAA Hosted Tournament- February 10-11
- Every Family Will Be Assigned a Mandatory Work Shift (Volunteer Hours)
2023-24 Boys Traveling Basketball Teams
If your player's name does not appear on one of the lists and they are in Grades 3-6, they will be placed on a Rec team, which will be announced at a later date.

Cottage Grove Traveling Basketball
Cottage Grove traveling basketball is intended as an opportunity for players looking to compete at the highest level of basketball. We offer teams at A, B and C levels (depending on numbers) to help maximize the benefit of each player. If you have questions, please contact one of our traveling directors.
Traveling Basketball Tryouts
Traveling basketball players are required to tryout. Each grade will have two separate tryout sessions. Session one will primarily consist of skill analysis and individual fundamental training. Session two will primarily consist of 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 scrimmages. It is very important that all athletes make plans to attend both sessions. At tryout registration, each player will get a number, which will help the independent evaluators identify each player. The evaluators will not know the names of the players. The evaluators will give the players a score, which we will use to help rank all players and select teams.
